All of my life, I have struggled with body image issues and destructive eating habits. I never felt safe in my own skin and it affected every aspect of my life. I lived my life on a rollercoaster, surviving the ups and downs and knowing all the while that something had to shift. I tried everything: meditation, counseling, support groups, acupuncture, and too-many-to-count self-help books, but I never found lasting change or peace of mind.
In August 2016, I received a call that would change my life forever – my mammogram detected a suspicious lump and I needed more testing. After being diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, I had a lumpectomy and breast reduction. I should have felt lucky that I did not have to endure a mastectomy. But I didn’t feel lucky at all. In fact, my body hatred grew more consuming and my binge eating spiraled out of control. Then COVID…. My weight was at an all-time high and my self esteem was at an all-time low.
Thankfully, I found the Hungry for Happiness Life Coaching program and began my personal journey towards self love and acceptance. During this 10-month program I healed myself from disordered eating and body image issues by addressing the underlying emotional root causes that fuel the struggle with food and body. My personal transformation deepened when I joined the Pause Breathwork Facilitator training program. With somatic coaching techniques and breathwork, I continue to recognize how trauma has affected my life and nervous system (fight/flight/freeze/fawn response) and deepen my self awareness and radical responsibility.
Through my own healing, I discovered my true passion and gift – helping others to move past their negative self-talk and outdated stories by using somatic coaching, emotional release techniques and transformative breathwork.
